Our Convictions

What We Believe

A Statement of Faith rooted in the historic Baptist position and the preserved words of God in the Authorized Version of 1611.

I

The Holy Scriptures

The absolute, sole, authoritative rule for faith and practice is the Protestant Reformation Text of the King James Version otherwise known as the Authorized Version of 1611.

The only Biblical way of interpreting this Book is by comparing Scripture with Scripture. No regard is to be given to any tradition or private interpretation of any Church or denomination.

Whenever any man, church, or organization denies the literal interpretation of the word of God in its proper context, their opinions are to be lightly esteemed in spiritual matters.

The literal sense of the plain English is always to be preferred over appeals to so called "original autographs", which are non-existent.

Reasons For The Above Statements

We believe in the INSPIRATION as well as the providential PRESERVATION of the Holy Scriptures. We also believe that God inspired the original Scriptures and preserved them in the form in which He intended us to have them. Psalm 12:6-7

We further believe that the purpose of this preservation was to maintain the infallibility of the inspired, original text. It is absurd to think that God would inspire the original autographs only for them to be lost without being transmitted to His people without error. To believe in the doctrine of the inerrancy of the Scriptures is foolishness, if God has not preserved them.

Antioch, Syria, the hub of Apostolic activity, was the place from which the God-honoured Greek Text originated and was disseminated throughout the regions where the faith had spread. The preservation of this Greek Text of the New Testament was primarily within the realm of the Greek Church and the text of the majority of manuscripts from Antioch is the providentially preserved and AUTHORIZED text.

This text, commonly known as the Textus Receptus, was revived in the Reformation in the Balkans and Germany, when the great Reformers rejected the Alexandrian text of the Roman Catholic Church. This in turn was providentially given to the English-speaking people and the final outstanding representative of this text is the King James, Authorized Version of 1611, which represents a purified, neutral text — i.e. Beza's fifth edition with improvements over Erasmus' text.

Therefore, the Authorised Version of 1611, the only English Bible which is based on the preserved text, is to be considered the preserved word of God. The reason for this being that God would not allow His words to be lost. Having preserved them for generations, He has given them to His people in the universal language of the end times.

II

The Local Church

We believe that the local church is the only institution on earth approved by God and its purpose is "for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ." Ephesians 4:12

We subscribe to the historic Baptist position, which briefly is as follows:

  • 1.Separation of church and state
  • 2.The Autonomy of the local church
  • 3.Water baptism by immersion
  • 4.The security of the believer

We believe that the Local Church is a self-governing, autonomous body, separate from state or ecclesiastical interference and under the direct authority of the Godhead through the Holy Scriptures which are the absolute, visible, final authority.

We believe in and practice the two ordinancesof baptism and the Lord's Supper; baptism is by immersion for those who are saved and it is symbolic of the believer's identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection, and the Lord's Supper is a memorial of the Lord's body and blood which He gave for sinners in His substitutionary death on the cross.

We believe in ordaining God-called men to the two offices of Deacon and Elder, with the presiding Elder being called a bishop or pastor.

We pledge allegiance to our nation and government as law-abiding citizens, and we uphold the Constitution of our nation.

Our church is not associated either politically or financially to any Baptist association or convention.

Salvation & Works

We believe in free grace and the gift of eternal life given to anyone who will receive the Lord Jesus Christ as their own Saviour. John 1:12

The born-again believer is eternally secure and awaits the literal, visible, bodily Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We subscribe to a moderate dispensationalism.

We believe in personal work, prayer, giving, and ministering to the sick and needy. Ephesians 2:10

We believe that practical application of Bible truth is as important as correctness in doctrine or profession of faith.

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name."

John 1:12 · AV 1611
